Support the Conservancy
Planned Giving
By including the Nay Aug Conservancy in your estate plans, you will ensure that one of Scranton’s greatest treasures will remain for future generations.
Bequests
Your bequest to the Nay Aug Conservancy qualifies your estate for a charitable deduction for the total amount of the bequest. Bequests to the Conservancy may be made in a dollar amount, specified property or asset, or a percentage of your estate.
Charitable Remainder Trust
A Charitable Remainder Trust is an irrevocable trust that provides for and maintains two sets of beneficiaries. The first set is the income beneficiaries. Income beneficiaries receive a set percentage of income for life, or a term of years you establish, from the trust. The second beneficiary is the Nay Aug Conservancy. The Nay Aug Conservancy receives the principal of the trust after the income beneficiaries pass away or the term of years expires.
Because assets are destined for a charity, Charitable Remainder Trusts do not pay any capital gains taxes. These taxes can range from 10% to 20% of assets growth in value. For this reason, CRTs are ideal for assets like stocks or property with a low cost basis but high appreciated value.
Charitable Lead Trust
A Charitable Lead Trust enables you to make a gift to the Nay Aug Conservancy over a period of years. The Conservancy receives income from the trust during your lifetime, and your heirs receive the assets after you pass away. Like the Charitable Remainder Trust, the Charitable Lead Trust offers income tax deductions and a reduction of capital gains taxes.
